Mrs. Shirley Gibbs

Welcome back, Mariners, and Happy New Year! I hope your winter break was filled with rest, joy, and special moments with loved ones. As we step into 2026, I’m excited for all the learning, growth, and celebrations ahead. Whether you’re a returning family or new to our Morningside community, we are so happy to have you sailing with us.

We continue to be incredibly proud of our school’s accomplishments — being named a California Distinguished School (2022), recognized as one of the Best Public Elementary Schools by U.S. News and World Report (2022), and earning Honor Roll distinction from the Educational Results Partnership. These achievements are a reflection of the dedication of our students, the hard work of our staff, and the unwavering support of our families. Together, we make great things happen.

As we return from break, we’ll be diving right back into teaching and learning. We’ll continue preparing our students for the next grade level by strengthening skills, building confidence, and encouraging them every step of the way. We’ll also begin gearing up for state testing, making sure our Mariners feel ready, supported, and proud to show what they know.

Attendance remains a huge focus for us. Being present and on time each day truly makes a difference — academically, socially, and emotionally. Thank you for partnering with us to help your child show up, shine, and succeed.

At Morningside, we believe in creating a positive, caring school environment where every child feels seen, valued, and celebrated. We will continue promoting respect, responsibility, and kindness throughout our campus, and we can’t wait to honor our students’ achievements — big and small — throughout the year.

Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us and for supporting the work we do each day. I’m grateful for this community and excited for all that 2026 has in store for our Mariners.

Anchored in love,
Mrs. Shirley Gibbs, Principal
